Hola a tod@s, my dear friends.

You can not imagine what it means for me to write this post.

The IC-HU Project is going to visit Bolivia, particularly in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, thanks to the Colegio Médico Departamental de Santa Cruz  and its Scientific Committee, the Bolivian Society of Intensive Care Medicine, the Center of teaching and medical skills and thanks to our friends of the newly created Bolivian Center of Humanization of the Health services (CBHSS).

From February 9th to 13th 2016, José Manuel Velasco and myself (a nurse and a doctor, as a team, as every day) will fly to Latin America convened to visit several hospitals and impart different talks in the I International Symposium Humanizing Health Services.

So, Wednesday 10th will start the adventure in Caja Petrolera de Salud and in the afternoon will be at the Hospital San Juan de Dios. Thursday 11th in the morning at the Hospital Universitario Japonés, and in the afternoon at the Hospital Psiquiátrico Benito Menni and at the Colegio de Médicos, which will be the central event of the visit.

And Friday 12th we will be at the Hospital de Niños.

We will talk about the International Research Project Humanizing Intensive Care, open ICU and flexibilization of the visits, focused on patients and families care, communication,  family presence in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the process of dying in the ICU. And I am sure that alltogether will sit the bases to start an international cooperation with the same objectives: the rehumanizacion of the health system.

I could not end this post without making a heartfelt tribute to my teacher and brother Dr. Alex Castelo, who 15 years ago taught me the way of intensive care and that makes today possible the IC-HU project to become a reality in the beautiful Santa Cruz.

I am looking forward to return to Bolivia, a wonderful place with people who always gave me more than ever I could dream of.

I am simply happy.

Happy weekend,
Gabi
