Hola a tod@s, my dear friends.

Surprisingly, in the last few months, different scientific journals with high impact on the scope of ICU are publishing articles about the care in which the word spirituality is cited.

It is not further a new theme (essential questions come from the beginning of Human Being). Nowadays, it´s a topic about you can speak with absolute freedom and even in scientific fields.

Today I would like to share with all of you, thanks to Enric Benito, a reading that is pure gold. It’s one of the monographs of the Spanish Society for Palliative Care (SECPAL) that you can download directly from their website (click here for the PDF, only available in Spanish).

This wonderful book, addresses the need for care of the emotional and spiritual side to carry out a comprehensive care.

Tremendously useful, it is divided into several sections:

– The person with suffering and death. Clinical anthropology notes.

– Spirituality and process of dying, the route.

– Diagnosis and spiritual care (resources and needs assessment and accompaniment).

– Proposals for accompanying.

The monograph ends with the SECPAL-Mallorca Declaration (only available in Spanish), published in the Journal of Palliative Medicine in 2011 and that is a statement of intent, in which I am sure many of us are identified.

This reading, my dear friends, is a great gift. Enjoy it.

Happy Wednesday,
Gabi
